NOTIFICATION of TEMPORARY FREIGHT SURCHARGE and ADJUSTMENTS
related to the Middle East conflict and increased crude oil prices.
Dear Valued Customer,
As you are no doubt aware, the conflict in Iran has had an immediate and sharp impact on oil prices, largely due to the inability of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil transits.
There are numerous impacts from this:
· Constrained supply chains
· Increased costs of transport related to fuel prices – shipping and road freight.
· Increased costs of oil derived resin and raw materials that are the key inputs to a number of products we either source directly, or through our key supply partners.
SOURCING AND SUPPLY CHAIN – PRODUCT AVAILABILITY
MCS supported by Bunzl’s global sourcing and significant supply chain capability means we are best positioned to remain in stock of key products constrained throughout the crisis. Our number 1 priority is to ensure we continue to supply critical products to our customers in line with normal usage patterns, whilst protecting our stock from panic buying or opportunistic purchasing.
Our priority and commitment is keeping our loyal and important customers in stock of their products.
We are taking actions across our supply chain, procurement, and operations to absorb cost pressures wherever possible. However, the scale and pace of recent energy cost increases now necessitate some adjustment to help offset some of the significant rise in associated costs.
FUEL & FREIGHT SURCHARGE
· On 7 April 2026, a fuel and freight surcharge of $12.00 (EXC GST) will be applied to all Melb/Metro orders and to Service call outs.
· This surcharge will be reviewed weekly and removed or adjusted should costs reduce or return to normal levels
This one-off surcharge will apply to all original orders coming into MCS only and not to any back orders. The surcharge does not apply to our Retail (showroom), however it will apply to Service call outs as required.
A key way for you to minimise the impact of this short-term fuel and freight surcharge is to simply place larger and less frequent orders, thus creating efficiencies for you and also assisting in limiting fuel consumption.
PRODUCT PRICE ADJUSTMENT
· From 4 May 2026, selected products impacted by cost increases from raw materials changes or key supplier adjustments, will have a price adjustment applied
· We will be reviewing pricing monthly with a view to reduce prices as product costs from suppliers start to come back down
· We will do our best to keep communication open and transparent through this unsettled period.
Your Account Manager will be available to discuss how these changes may affect your orders, pricing, or delivery schedules, and to explore any available options to support your business during this period
Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support through this challenging macro-economic scenario. We are committed to keeping you informed of further developments and ensuring you are kept in supply of critical products during this time.
Apologies for this situation, but it’s out of our control, although we are and will absorb some costs, we need support to recoup some operational expenses.
Kind regards,

Pasquale Di Virgilio
General Manager
